Ex-Exciter guitarist John Ricci has a new band that recently released this promotional demo, which has already made some waves and even landed them a deal with High Roller Records. Joined by former Witchkiller bassist Todd Pilon, previous Exciter singer Jacques Bélanger, and drummer Lucas Dery, John blasts out two songs worth of dark, eerie metal with kicks of thrash to them with "Haunted Hell" and "Dragon Man," both of which have the intensity and aggression that you'd expect from something involving Exciter alumni, right down to Ricci's signature driving guitar tone. All that comes together to make a thrilling, energetic sound that resonates with old-school metal flair while also retaining a sharp, modern edge. As of writing, the debut is slated for a summer-fall release this year, and if this is anything to go off, fans of Exciter and traditional metal as a whole will want to mark their calendars for the proper arrival of Powerrage.
