Power Surge came together in 2024 and is comprised of musicians from Croatia, Serbia and the U.K. Shadows Warning is their debut album and is a really entertaining collection of high energy traditional heavy metal. The long resumes of the band members might contain a lot of unknown names (the U.K.'s Neuronspoiler was the only band I recognized), but their experience should not be in question after listening to Shadows Warning. Chugging, melodic heavy metal with powerful, slightly gritty vocals is what Power Surge offers in terms of style, with very catchy riffs resulting in several songs rattling around in my head at the conclusion of the album every time I listened. The production is crisp and gives each instrument space to shine without overshadowing any of the others, and each song's potential to get feet tapping is unleashed. The more I listen to Shadows Warning, the more I like it, and the hooks just keep sinking deeper and deeper into my ears. Fans of classy, catchy traditional metal like Armored Saint, W.A.S.P., Malice, etc. should give this one a few spins. |
