This is a Finnish band digging back to the roots of modern Death Metal, thugging out songs that sound like they could have been released in 1990 except the production is better. What I like is that they sound definitively old-school without sounding too imitative of any one band. There are the expected and inevitable influences from Entombed, Deicide, or even Suffocation, but this band does do their own thing. The mix is very bass-heavy, which I always like, and the songwriting puts together songs that are often odd and have a more adventurous structure than just blast and bellow. There is some wicked atonal melody buried in these tunes, and it makes for a far more complex and satisfying listen than you would expect. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
