This album sounds exactly like you want an album called Axeblade by a band also called Axeblade to sound. Big, punchy riffs, gritty, shouted vocals, songs about battles and occult shit, etc., it's all here. Singer Paola Goitre has a powerful bellow from the same school as Leather Leone, Erica Stoltz and Sarabeth Linden, with the ability to get up into the Halford range on occasion and she really muscles the songs along. Not that the guitars and drums aren't doing their part; the whole album is packed with killer riffs and fills with nary a bad song in the bunch. Axeblade is a feast of bashing, fist-pumping heavy metal, so if you dig early Manilla Road and Omen as well as more current acts like Tower and Sanhedrin, you should be all over it. |
