This is a relatively new (2021) French band and Sulphur and Pestilence is their second EP. I'm going to have to check out the first one because this is a pretty sweet, no-nonsense, straightforward blend of black and death metal with a bit of a melancholic vibe. This is pretty raw stuff, though polished enough as to not turn off those who like things to sound on the clean side. There's a mix of in-your-face, borderline brutal blackened death here to make your head snap off your neck from headbanging as well as slower and more melodic parts to cool off your jets before going a little crazy again. It's not the most original stuff and I can't say it leaves much to remember once it's over, but it's a lot of fun while it's on. |
