Been 15 years since I reviewed an Abigail Williams album, and I was interested to see what kind of changes they might have gone through. I am glad to see that they have gotten more polished, but they are still not what I would call good. This is still very simplistic music with no real life to it, just heavy thudding and chugging without anything to really grab your attention. I almost hesitate to call this Black Metal, because it is downtuned and simplistic in a very metalcore kind of way, with just groove riffs and an emphasis on overproduction. There's none of the texture or atmosphere I expect from Black Metal, just brute, stupid chunking. The more I listen to this, the less I like it. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
