Ignominia's second album, Procesión de la muerte, is a feral, uncompromising slab of Chilean death metal that wastes zero time on pleasantries and just starts hurling riffs at you with a precision that's rabid and almost ritualistic. This reminds me a lot of the grim hatred conjured by L.A. legends Sadistic Fucking Intent, and anyone whose been here long enough knows that's not faint praise coming from me. This is helped by a production that's raw in all the right places, with air-tight drums, serrated guitars, and cavernous vocals that sound like they're reaching out from some ancient crypt, and songwriting that's notably more focused and venomous than before. Short, savage, and utterly unpretentious, Procesión de la muerte is a worthy homage to the old gods that may well be the start of Ignominia taking their rightful place beside them.
