Ah the scent of flowers and fresh cut grass, birds singing, a clear blue sky, the sun shining. This is exactly what this EP will NOT remind you of. Grimfaug (no idea what that means) delivers 5 tracks of raw minimalistic Black Metal in the vein of early 90s Norwegian BM, with some parts that are not without reminding me of some of the Black Legions stuff and a bit of UK's Old Forest (RIP). Lo-fi production and fast playing that does away with any hint of melody, if you're having a bad day and are looking for something destructive to fill your ears, this is just what the doctor ordered. OK, it's been done before, but I can't help but have a thing for those who don't resort to gimmicks just to sound original. This is a re-release of their 2002 demo and according to the band's web site it is limited to 100 copies. You know what you have to do. ;) |
