Now THIS is a nice little DVD. "Still Reigning"'s main reason for existence is a live performance of Slayer's classic "Reign In Blood" album in its integrity. As a result, don't expect too many extras: There are almost none. But then again, the DVD is priced cheap - hell, I got it for a little more than half the price of a CD. What you get is the whole "Reign in Blood" live performance as the concert, then 6 other live songs as bonus tracks (in other words, while they were played at the same show, they were not put on the same track list as RiB.) The other extra is "Slayer in their own words" which shows the band members commenting on their career, along with some backstage footage, fan shots, etc...

I was surprised by this DVD. In my opinion Slayer haven't done anything worth listening to in the past 10 years or so. Well, not only does this DVD sticks to the old stuff, but the live performance itself is quite amazing - stylistically it feels like the show was played 20 years ago, and the band is just amazing on stage (even Kerry King aka the headbanging penis has quite a stage presence.) The sound is crystal clear and the video angles, while a bit difficult to follow at times, manage to show just about everything and make you feel like you were in the front row. This is one of those DVDs that'll make you headbang fist in the air in your own living room (the advantage is that, unlike being at the live show, you won't end up with a bloody face - see the little documentary for details. :))

In short, amazing performance caught on DVD. This DVD is priced so cheap that there's no reason not to have it for anyone remotely interested in Slayer. Normally I'd bitch at the lack of content, but the live stuff more than makes up for it. Highly recommended.
