This was the second full-length effort by Suidakra ('Arkadius' spelled backwards. I know, huh?) This is a German band who you would swear are Finnish, but they aren't. The basic formula here is Children Of Bodom-styled melodeath, but with folk riffing instead of Power Metal as the dominant influence. Oh, and vocals that don't suck as horribly as Alex Laiho's. The riffage and especially the leads on this disc are actually pretty good, and the album as a whole is enjoyable, but I find that after many listens (I've had this thing for like 2 weeks now) I still can't remember any of it afterward. A lot of the folky riffs sound kind of recycled, and so these songs lack individual identity. It's a fun CD, but it goes in one ear and right out the other. The bonus tracks are actually the entire debut album crammed onto the last part of the disc, and these songs are all pretty much like the others: fun, entertaining, and without any substance whatsoever. So for 2 albums on one disc, this is a good buy, and I don't regret it, but this is hardly a classic for the ages.
