Now this is something refreshing... Melodic power metal (whatever :)) music and a female vocalist with a classical training. As you can expect, the vocals do take a lot of room on this album, and it is a good thing. The vocalist is absolutely great, her voice just flowing with the music while releasing a power that we don't get to see very often... This is unique, at least to this metalhead's ears.
Synthesizers are used extensively, something I often don't like, but here the blend with other instruments is pretty good, and the sounds don't get annoying even after multiple spins. I also like some of the guitar solos, not always genius-like, but very appropriate. I am very impressed by the musical arrangements on this album, as well as the overall songwriting.
With Tarja's delicious voice and great musicianship, you just can't go wrong with this album. A must-have. Buy it. Enough said.
