Here we have one of the most primitive releases in Metal. VON released Metal that's in the same vein of outfits such as BLACK WITCHERY and BESTIAL WARLUST. We have 8 tracks that are nothing but hoarse satanic incantations, looping riffs, repetitive drums and recurring bass lines that are barely audible. Normally I should hate this kind of crap and throw it in the garbage, but there's something about it that's so enthralling that through all its negative aspects it just adds up in a positive heap and ends up as a rather attractive album.
People looking for innovative and artsy metal should move along, in fact, they should run for their lives. This is the exact opposite of what they are looking for. This is what I love about it, though. It absolutely molests your taste in music, that's what this little album's purpose is. It wants to be as anti-music and offensive (and hey, it was pretty darn offensive for its time, seeing that the whole Satan theme has been deemed cliché because crust-kiddies kept using it to laugh at Black Metal bands) as possible.
So, I don't exactly know what crossed the band members' minds to make something like this, but I'm sure it went something like "Quick! Let's put together some of the most retarded riffs, drum beats and bass lines together, cloak it with Satanic lyrics as an excuse to delete whatever negative comments people can generate towards us and justify it as being 'primitive' and 'ritualistic'"! Well, hey! What can I say? They sure as hell fooled me!
