Here we have another Kotipelto album – am I the only one who gives not a tin shit? I have never liked Stratovarius, with even their most-fellated albums being extremely boring and queer. The prospect of a solo album by their undistinguished vocalist is yawn-inducing in the extreme.
This is forty minutes of pop/rock radio friendly crap produced with suffocating professionalism and a sickening gloss of commercial-whore accessibility. The poppy gloss on this album is just disgusting, calling to mind such abortions as Firehouse and Kingdom Come. I can pretty much sum this up by saying that no, the song "After The Rain" is not a Nelson cover song, but it would have fit right in if it was. Actually, it's a bad enough song that I kind of wish it was Nelson instead.
So for nausea-inducing radio-pop-rock garbage that makes Stratovarius' last few albums sound like Number Of The Beast in comparison, you can't miss with Serenity, except I actually advise you to miss it altogether. Very bad.
