Straight from the "slipped through the cracks" department, here's Adumus' 1999 demo. Somehow this ended up filed in my collection rather than with the promos, so I don't know how long this has been sitting here (definitely not since 1999, rest assured.) D'OH! Since this demo, the band has released another demo, an EP, a full-length album and a few splits. I can't say I've run into their name much over the years, however.

Alright, back to this. This is rather raw black metal overall, with some keyboards used for the introduction to some songs. Thankfully the intros are not as separate tracks and only last a few seconds each, and the band did a nice job with them - a little dark and "dramatic"-sounding, before getting into the real thing with the expected raspy BM screeches, simplistic but raw and abrasive guitars - just what you expect from your average "basic" black metal material (one should keep in mind that this was released in 1999, however.) There are keyboards outside the intros, but usually rather discreet and they don't get in the way. The drum sound is a bit annoying at times, sounding a bit like the can-drumming.

So overall this is a quite decent, albeit short demo. Even back when it was released, this kind of stuff had been done before, but the world hadn't yet been saturated by it. It's well done however, and that's what matters in the end. This was re-released on tape in 200 copies only and most likely hard to find, so your best bet to check out the band is probably to look for their full-length and the various splits they have released since.

Track Listing:
  1. Realms Of Humid Darkness
