Nice little demo here from a local (Ottawa) band that I didn't know existed. The music is basically mid to fast-paced Death/Thrash and in the very short length - slightly over 9 minutes - you are not given much of a breather. When you're not treated to a destructive speedfest that flirts with grind (but thankfully doesn't get there - that'd be crossing the frontier into the suck), you are being pounded slowly by thunderous drums and heavy guitars. To complement the musical onslaught, some very good vocal work that sounds just as vicious and furious as the music. No deep guttural garbage here, but the expected Death vocals with a thrashy/black-ish edge - hell, I can even understand some of the lyrics. At the end you'll feel like you've just been bitch-slapped by a 10-wheeler, and you'll be asking for more.
This is demo level - very raw with a slightly uneven, sometimes muddy sound, and somehow I think it wouldn't have sounded as good otherwise. Now the bad news: My understanding is that only 11 copies have been made (but you can get two of the three songs off their Myspace page), and the vocalist is leaving. Hopefully the next guy can fill his shoes. Either way, I'm looking forward to more from these guys.
