Well, this is a joyful slab of Black stinking Metal. There's a bunch of bands called Manticore, but this is the one from Ohio, of all places. Harking back to the murderous, primitive days when Thrash mutated into Black Metal, Bowels of the Holy Anoint Us in Evil is a vile, thrashing brew of evil, baby-raping chaos. Obviously very into Sodom's early works, this disc is a thrashing, anarchic assault of nun-sodomizing string-shredding fun. With a gurgling, sick-assed guitar sound and unholy rasping vocals, Manticore attack all that is holy with an undisguised zeal. From "Feast of the Beast" through "When Fire Strikes The Blackened Skies" there's not a blasphemy-free moment to be had. They even throw in a Beherit cover. Fucking cool. |
