It only took one spin to fully realize what we have here: another solid, yet unspectacular release from Motörhead. We are Motörhead, released in 2000, continues a long line of similar sounding Motörhead albums that all follow the formula laid out way back in 1986 on Orgasmatron. We are Motörhead has fast songs ("See Me Burning," "We Are Motörhead"), slow songs ("One More Fucking Time") and weird songs ("Wake the Dead") all played in the style that is unmistakably Motörhead. Big, fat riffs, pounding drums and Lemmy's awesome "rhythm" bass do not disappoint.

What is a bit different on We are Motörhead is that it is a very punk-sounding album (the inclusion of a completely unnecessary cover of the Sex Pistol's "God Save the Queen" cements this assertion). "See Me Burning" is easily the fastest Motörhead song since "Overkill." The rest of the album follows a pretty basic structure with minimal chord changes. While there is nothing wrong with We are Motörhead, it isn't the place I'd start my experience with the band (and every self-respecting metal fan should own some Motörhead!) I would go with No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith or the compilation No Remorse for ground zero, followed closely by Ace of Spades.

As previously stated, this is a solid release and you should feel confident picking this one up. Just don't expect to be blown away.
