Minotaur is a three man German Thrash Metal band and this is their second album in more than 20 years, making it a comeback attempt. Now I am clueless as to what they sounded like in the 80's, but to me this is as average an album as it can get. Let's start with the most obvious reason for this: the vocalist, Andreas Richwien has a yammering screaming style that I hate with a passion. He is the main reason that I cringe every time I listen to this album. He is also the guitarist and his riffs are good enough but there is a severe lack of guitar leads and the ones that are there are mediocre at best. The same applies to Jörg Bock's drumming; while is not terrible I have heard this style performed better countless times. Another aspect that I didn't like are the songs themselves. While they have tons of energy and headbanging material, they all sound the same and have similar length, so it is very difficult to differentiate them. The only exception to that is "Tales of Terror" and that's only because it begins with an acoustic intro.

There are a couple of good points though: Alf Diehl's bass is a presence throughout the album and you can hear it perfectly (something that I am always a fan of). The production is absolutely stellar for a Thrash band; you can listen to every song and every note perfectly. However, the few positives that the record has done little to hide the fact that God May Show You Mercy… We Will Not does not have anything you haven't heard before. In the end this record is just one among many and you won't be missing out on anything.
