You have just got to love this album title! This is a re-issue of the 2002 debut of these Swedish black/thrashers, and I'm glad this landed here because I had never heard them before. This is a short album – at just under 26 minutes it's shorter than some EPs – but it packs a lot of mixed fun and aggression in that short time. It's raw and dirty and there's nothing pretty about the music here – and how could it be otherwise with a band and album name like that? This stuff is almost pedal to the metal from beginning to end, sometimes so chaotic you have no idea what the fuck is going on – and of course they threw in a chainsaw sound in there. The vocalist just barks the insane lyrics away, most of it indecipherable, but I don't think anything remotely cleaner would have fit with the kind of instrumental onslaught that's going on here. Nothing remotely intricate going on here, just basic raw, old school, sort of garage-like playing that sounds like the guys were having a hell of a good time doing it. In the midst of all the chaos, there is nonetheless enough catchiness to make the songs memorable for the most part – be it the barebones metal riffs, the occasional hints at melody (don't worry, they slaughter the hell of that pretty quickly), and even the vocals almost invite a sing-along on occasion.
If you're into the artsy stuff, this will hurt your pussy – bad. On the other hand, if you're looking for some raw and dirty, old school black/thrash that doesn't take itself seriously and just begs for repeat play? Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw will do the trick.
