What the fuck is this supposed to be? Okay, I know, it's supposed to be folk metal like Cruachan or Elvenking, but the problem is that those bands suck, and so does this one. The folk parts are decently-played, but the 'metal' parts are weak, repetitive, and trite. The lyrics are faux-intellectual garbage with about as much poetry as the narration in a videogame, the vocals are bad, and the songwriting is beyond shapeless to the degree that it becomes actually pointless. This tries so hard to be epic it makes me wince listening to it. By the time an actual good part appears it is track 6, and way too late to save this. A painful and misguided album.

  3. The Black Death
