Sammath are a vicious band and this is a vicious disc of blasting Black Metal. The style here is very fast and tight, similar to a lot of older Marduk material in a lot of ways. Here and there a more melodic sense will poke through the omnipresent speed, and I wish they had let that side of their songwriting show more often. This is a feral and aggressive album, but it is pretty damned one-dimensional, and halfway through it starts to get wearisome. The slower parts and the melodic flourishes really stand out as the best parts, but Sammath always come back to the hammering, which is the least interesting part of their sound. This is solid, but generic.
