I have never had much patience with Krieg. When they stick to the Black Metal orthodoxy they seem wedded to they produce only monotonous blasting with little to recommend it at all. When they branch out into more experimental sounds they can produce interesting music, but also be incredibly irritating. This album is mostly straight-ahead and thus is not terribly interesting over the long haul. The few places where they do anything different are hampered by a smooth, wussy production job and Imperial's extremely one-dimensional vocals. Not a bad album per se, but if offers nothing really compelling. |
