So apparently this is a band formed by members of Sauron (Nld), who I really don't know anything about...man, I should really start on improving my black metal library.

Funeral Goat pretty much just plays black metal. That's literally all you need to know. Grunted, rasped vocals, dirty tremolo riffs, bashing drums that were probably practiced on trash can lids when he was in high school and a dedication to occult lyrical themes that I might care about more if the music was more captivating. Funeral Goat does not really make me care. That's the central problem with this at the end of the day. What's the incentive? Another black metal album that uses the exact same themes, presentation and modes of expression as about ten thousand others? Should I pretend to be enthralled?

There is literally nothing to say about this – it is the musical equivalent of a blank tape. It's background music, or it might as well be. This would probably scare off some old ladies if you turned it up loud enough, if you really want me to list some positives. It is never annoying or irritating to listen to, and the band knows how to play their instruments well. But the songwriting is stale, the riffs are just dull and nothing about this is really that interesting. In some cases, the retreading of such trite and cliché themes is charming and even a lot of fun. But in this case I just can't bring myself to give a crap. Oh well.
