This is a stripped-down Brazilian band doing the retro Black/Thrash thing pioneered by bands like Sodom and Hellhammer. This is the second album for Grave Desecrator, and I'm going to have to track down their first, because this is pretty fracking cool. They take all the expected elements from the echoey recording, grimy guitar sound, guttural Angelripper vocals and wrap them around some pretty kickass songwriting. The band members all use pseudonyms like "Butcherazor" and "Vallakk the Necrogoat", and they thug out the kind of old-fashioned, subterranean stuff that we used to get on albums like In the Sign of Evil. Raw, primitive, and essential.
