I was, shall we say, not a big fan of Adorned Brood's last album, the awful Noor, but I am never one to just write off a band. After all, anybody can turn around and suddenly make a great album, even Ensiferum managed it. So I put in Hammerfeste and hope for the best. The best this is not, though it is not as charmless as Noor. This is still pretty annoying. Faceless riffs, irritating vocals, and songwriting with no focus or direction makes this pretty much a chore, though here and there some listenable parts do pop up. So this is slightly less sucky than the last album, but still not good by any measure. |
