What we've got here is the debut demo from a Scandinavian one-man black metal band. Does anything else need to be said? Well, actually, yeah. I might not (read: do not) have the most extensive knowledge of black metal, but I do know that this is pretty interesting. This is black metal of the folky-tremolo-riff style, so repetition is a given, but where these guys shocked me was simply the quality of some of the riffs and melodies. Hell, some parts of the title track even remind me of black metal legends The Ruins of Beverast, and certain riffs throughout the demo sound pretty close to Moonsorrow. Unfortunately, these riffs are often tied to somewhat boring compositions that don't really know when to change or end, which the dedicated listener might find more in. Overall, though, this is some pretty quality material from a band that might prove to be a force to be reckoned with.
