This is what one might call "relaxing Death Metal." With a name like this and the type of cover art, I was expecting something more brutal and most likely gory. This however is pretty much mid-paced, sometimes even pretty slow (not unlike The Chasm at their most melodic, without actually sounding like them.) The vocals are a throaty growl that even gets close to thrashy at times, so even that is not as "extreme" as I expected.
Finally Deceased bank a lot on melody and atmosphere and not so much on "pure" Death Metal, and often sound like kind of a Death/Doom/Thrash hybrid, borrowing bits and pieces from all three genres and doing a pretty good job at it too. Overall, despite the variety, the album comes off as a little bit monotonous but still has enough in there to prevent an emergency slap on the stop button. If you like the style of Death Metal presented by such bands as The Chasm – that is heavy and melodic – but are not looking for a clone, Finally Deceased may be what you're looking for.
