This is straightforward old school Speed/Thrash with a bit of a punk vibe to it. Nothing flashy here, Speedwolf sound like that local band that everyone in town knows and likes. Their sound is very "garage-style", like a low-budget early 80s release that borrows a bit from NWOBHM but is really all about thrashing and rocking the house. Ride with Death is fast-paced through and through – not that one would expect a ballad in this genre anyway. The vocals are adequate for the genre – fast, barely decipherable because they're shouted just as fast as the music is played, and held a bit in the background to leave the center stage to the music. The production holds the album back a little bit. It's very much in line with the whole "garage-style" I mentioned earlier, but one can't help but feel that the instruments are struggling to make themselves heard at times – the drums especially in a few places could bring down the ceiling if they were given the room. For some quick 'n' dirty punk-induced Speed/Thrash, Ride with Death fits the bill and that's that. Lots of fun and lots of headbanging await...
