I quite liked this band's debut from back in 2010, but here we see them going a bit further down the post-rock path than I would like. This is still identifiable metal of some sort, with some rather good melodies layered in there, but with the bass turned up and the guitar sound smoothed out, the only thing keeping this from sounding more like Joy Division is the harsh vocals, which now sound completely out of place. Not a terrible album, but this band is clearly headed for other pastures, and I expect their next one to be off the map. Disappointing. |
