I reviewed this band's debut, Race of Steel, back in 2008 and really enjoyed the straight-up Painkiller worship, so I am not displeased that Steel Raiser III went ahead and just made that album over again. That's not meant to be a criticism by any stretch. This band decided they want to do one thing, dammit. They do it well and they're going to keep doing it. You get powerful, chugging, propulsive riffs with a guitar tone right out of "Leather Rebel" and songs about metal, lasers, magic, and more metal. Vocalist Alfonso Giordano is no Rob Halford, but he lays it down with enough attitude to carry him past his limitations. If you just want no-bullshit metal that crunches and headbangs, then get this.
