Abhorrent are Chilean underground Thrash/Death Metal legends, well known among the tape traders that were sending the band's early demo, live and rehearsal material back and forth to each other during the late 80's and early 90's. Abhorrent's rare, early material has been hard to find in the past but not anymore; Wang, the owner of AreaDeath Productions, visited the graveyard of underground extreme Metal and dug up a bunch of Abhorrent rarities with the goal of releasing them as a double CD.
And so he did. History of the World's End contains 24 songs taken from several of Abhorrent's past releases and is a great value for your hard-earned pennies because you'll never find all of this stuff in a more professional package. There's something truly appealing in Abhorrent's primitive, raw and aggressive Thrash-infested Death Metal assaults that throws me back in time to the heyday of the underground Metal scene when bands like Sepultura, Sarcofago, Chakal, Mutilator, Necrosis, MX and so many other South American underground Metal bands were invading the world via tape trading. What really separated Abhorrent from the pack was the band's attempt to be a bit more technical and experimental. A good example is the 15-minute song called "Mysteries from the Forgotten Worlds (I, II, III)," originally released on the band's 1996 debut album, Start Point. Not many bands in those days dared to write such lengthy tunes. It was something very unusual and definitely groundbreaking.
This 2-disc set sums up perfectly who Abhorrent were and what they did two decades ago, plus it highlights the band's influence as one of the pioneers of the whole Chilean underground Metal scene, something that cannot be ignored.
