Silent Images is the debut EP from a Swedish band of the same name. There's some solid Swedish Death Metal that can be found in the three songs contained on Silent Images. "Unleash the Dogs of War" opens the EP in brutal style with a vicious guitar riff and powerful, bellowing vocals which are accented by some almost Black Metal shrieks. Then there are the clear vocals which, frankly, suck, and should be ditched on future releases. "Tick Tock" is another decent thrasher with a late 80s Megadeth/Sepultura riff and groove. Again, the clear singing is the weak link in the chain. Silent Images appears to be going for a "progressive" sound to their Death Metal with the clear vocal lines and they just sound out of place. "Realpolitik" rounds out the EP and is the worst song, again courtesy of the clean singing which, in this song, is an annoying spoken rant.
Silent Images sounds long on talent and ambition but short on execution. Kudos for trying something a little different, but in the end, it doesn't work very well.
