Here's something that is a bit more unusual and original and strives to break out of the most common Metal molds. Star Insight is the name of this young 6-piece Finnish band and, after nine years of activity, they have finally put out their debut full-length studio album, Messera. Musically, the band calls their stuff "Space/Black Metal" and Norway's The Kovenant is probably one of Star Insight's biggest influences for their keyboard-laden, symphonic extreme Metal.

Messera sounds different from most extreme Metal releases of today and Star Insight deserves some credit for that. Other than The Kovenant, I also hear Switzerland's Samael, especially that band's more electronic/industrial era. I also cannot avoid mentioning Dimmu Borgir, due to a few orchestrated moments on the album.

Star Insight has a pretty unique musical palette and we can only hope that they keep improving and refining it for their next release. I am positive that we'll hear a lot of more from these fellows in the future. Mark my words.
