One of the strongest exports of Finnish Doom/Death Metal, Hooded Menace, has traveled a long way since the band's 2007 demo titled The Eyeless Horde. Having recorded several splits, EPs and three full-length albums so far, it was the right time to get something a bit more special out for the fans. Gloom Immemorial, containing all of Hooded Menace's rare split and EP recordings, is a special release indeed.
Gloom Immemorial has nearly 76 minutes of rare and hard-to-get Hooded Menace stuff and it's absolutely worth the price if you are tired of hunting down all their split and EP releases and then paying high prices for them. This collection has everything even the first versions of such well-known Hooded Menace tunes as "Fulfill the Curse" and "The Eyeless Horde" originally on the band's 2-track demo recorded back in 2007. Crispy, heavily Doom-laden, underground Death Metal is what Hooded Menace was all about back in the day and what they remain about today. Nothing has changed in core sound of Hooded Menace; they still creep up our necks like an army of raunchy zombies going to filthy flesh orgies. Feel those blood-craving teeth deep in your neck yet?
A compilation like this, instead of being some sort of quick and cheap money-making "best-of" release, makes absolute sense and is undoubtedly a good value for hard-earned your pennies. By buying Gloom Immemorial it's very easy to complete your Hooded Menace collection with little effort. For the die-hard fans there's also a special box available, which contains each releases' original art printed on individual cards with the song's credits on the flipside. Sweet.
