Finnish Death Metal blasphemers and rapists of all that is holy, Vorum, have crawled out of their dark graves back into the daylight with a new 5-song death manifesto clutched in their dirty and blood-soaked hands titled Current Mouth. It's been two years since Vorum released their well-received debut album Poisoned Void and the ensuing silence has finally been broken.
Musically, unlike so many other Finnish Death Metal troops, Vorum has either consciously or unconsciously tried to separate themselves from your typical murky Death Metal acts. In fact, if Current Mouth was my first time hearing Vorum, my mind would wander to the first US extreme Metal bands some 28-29 years ago. On Current Mouth, Vorum sound much like the Texas-based Metal extremists Necrovore with some of the viciousness and brutality of Morbid Angel's Abominations of Desolation album and the demo days from Florida's Incubus. Vorum's sound will surely fool a lot of people regarding their true origins.
I, for one, cannot help but admire Vorum's dedication and attitude towards past underground Death Metal times. They have even kept the production loyal to those days; it's as authentic and raw but still clear as Vorum' attempts to hail the elder gods of extreme Metal.
There's less than 20 minutes of blasphemy on Current Mouth but remember; pain makes time seem to pass more slowly.
