Any fan of Power Metal not familiar with Iron Savior needs to turn in their Helloween albums. Piet Sielck's band has been one of the stalwarts of the genre for going on 20 years and Megatropolis 2.0 is a re-recording of their sixth album, Megatropolis, released back in 2007. I can't honestly say much about the first version of the album, having contented myself with older records like Unification and Condition Red but Megatropolis 2.0 certainly sounds like a band in top form. It's got double-kick tracks like "Running Riot" and "Still I Believe," mid-paced songs like the title cut and "Cybernatic Queen" and of course, Sielck's trademark catchy choruses and hook-filled vocal lines. There are no real weak tracks but songs like "Cyber Hero" definitely stand above the others.

I wouldn't call Megatropolis 2.0 the equal of Condition Red but it is a solid album for the very consistent Iron Savior. Helloween, Gamma Ray and Iron Fire fans that don't already know about the Savior can start here if for some reason Condition Red isn't available.
