If you want to find a good pile of new Thrash Metal acts, Italy might be the country you should look at. From Milan comes also this four-piece Thrash Metal act, Expired, which was formed just about 10 years ago in 2005.
This nine-track affair, titled Haze, is pure Thrash Metal: unadulterated, straightforward, aggressive and old school – and most importantly, staying true to the times of heydays of 80s Thrash, even production-wise (no overproduced shit can be found on this disc). These Italian fellows have truly found their own Thrash-mood to thrash their hearts out proficiently, putting their pedal to the metal on Haze. Expired take their influence more from the American side of Thrash Metal than the European one, having a good Bay Area-touch wrapped around their songs. Also great, they trust some of the basic values of Thrash Metal, and don't overdo anything. Sometimes keeping it somewhat simple is the best way to work when it comes down to creating Thrash Metal, and these Italians have realized this.
Haze is like a tribute record to the old times of 80s (Bay Area) Thrash Metal, reminding people of its frenzied and untamed aggressive nature – and how it was like to churn out pure Thrash without any gimmicks. The music did all the talking back then, and the same message is basically carried out on this album.
Haze is a good Thrash Metal record, just offering nine tunes of energetic, old school Thrash Metal, which should be enough even for an experienced Thrash Metal consumer. By all means check it out, and prepare to pound your fingers against the table, or grab your air guitar for a nice Thrash tournament.
