Sounds of Fury is a technical Death Metal band from Lausanne, Switzerland, and Mediocracy is the title of their second full-length studio album. Eh, do you want to know more? Perhaps you should not bother. I mean, Mediocracy is brutal, heavy, relatively technical and all that, but at the same time it also offers a dose of faceless, unoriginal and even dull Death Metal that obviously tries to be some sort of Swiss version of Deicide. Nico, on vocals and guitar, sounds strongly like Mr. Benton, but it does not make that any better. Somehow, Sounds of Fury lacks that vital spark to make it sound at least tolerable for most of us Death Metal suckers. There's definitely a try for better things involved with these Swiss death mongers, but as a plain and furious attempt to try to sink our ships by all that heavy bombardment, it is basically both hit and miss. I only am convinced by Sounds of Fury's half-good attempt to push Deicide away from its throne, but then again Deicide is safe when it comes to juxtaposing these two acts side by side.
Sorry Sounds of Fury. Some potential and good ideas are there, but they could be done better. Mediocracy is unfortunately a mediocre release.
