Bring Forth Death is the first full-length from Philadelphia, PA's Seraph in Travail. Symphonic Death/Black Metal is the name of the game and the band puts forth a variety of vocal styles from Black rasps and Death growls to both male and female clean singing. They weave these together pretty well and the flow from one to the next is smooth, keeping with the melodic nature of the music. The performances are quite good but the songwriting isn't at the same level and nothing really stands out above the rest, except maybe the ill-advised cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." This song is so iconic (inarguable whether you love it or hate it) that no band is going to be able to enhance it or "make it their own", so why bother? Regardless, Bring Forth Death is a decent effort from this unsigned band that has some work to do in the songwriting department. If they can step that up they could turn some heads.
