Stormhammer is a German band that plays a crunchy, relatively keyboard-free brand of Power Metal (after seeing the band name, neither of those things surprised you, right?). Echoes of a Lost Paradise is their fifth album and, coming six years after their previous release, features a few new musicians in the lineup. Song titles like "Glory Halls of Valhalla," "Holy War" and "Stormrider" ensure that plenty of Power Metal tropes are represented. Stormhammer doesn't play a million miles an hour very often and that gives their music a traditional Metal vibe and along with the powerful vocals had me thinking of Armored Saint. Overall, Echoes of a Lost Paradise is generic, bringing nothing new to the table and even sounding repetitive in a few spots. I have no complaints with the performances and you won't either but I don't hear Stormhammer doing anything to separate themselves from an already full field of contenders.
