Two Crossover/Thrash Metal bands from Greece, Hillbilly Revenge and Human Slaughter, have teamed up together for this split release, aptly titled Hillbilly Slaughter.

Crossover, or Punk mixed with Thrash – whatever really – has always been close to my heart. When I was a kid, both Punk and Hardcore releases often found their way into my cassette player or onto my turntable. Punk/Hardcore ruled for me back then – and Punk and Hardcore releases still rule for me even nowadays.

Both Hillbilly Revenge's and Human Slaughter's aggressive and true attitude-oozing Crossover shit sounds good and actually very enjoyable to my ears. Hillbilly Revenge is probably my favorite band out of these two due to their more Thrash Metal approach (in fact, they remind me of a young Finnish Thrash outfit named Brainthrash a bit, mostly due to the vocals). Both acts play in a simple but effective way, having the needed amount of the right elements within their sounds to kick ass. Human Slaughter sounds like Slayer's debut album. Show No Mercy, if it had been put through some tobacco filter, full of Punk-grains. Cool stuff.

Hillbilly Slaughter is a pretty nice split of two Greek Crossover/Thrash acts, suitable for any beer infested parties together with some of your closest and craziest metalhead friends. Now, come to think of it, how much fun would this disc provide for this kind of parties?
