It's been 16 years now since I got into Krisiun with the excellent Conquerors of Armageddon. This album here is quite different. If it weren't for the vocals, I probably would have a hard time telling that it's Krisiun. Forged in Fury is not as heavy nor as "raw and dirty" as the band's earlier material was. It's more technical, disciplined and melodic, sometimes flirting between the low end of Death Metal and the heavier end of Thrash. It's a mixed bag really; they nail it on some songs, while some are kind of annoying ("Ways of Barbarism") without being completely bad.

I've been listening to the album for a while without feeling the urge to hit "stop", but at the same time I don't necessarily have the urge to put it on either. It has enough good material on it to keep the listener's interest, but the band's experimentation with their sound may turn off some of the more purist fans. File under "hit or miss".
