Ifrinn is a Scottish band that plays a standard Pagan/Black Metal featuring the insanely fast, purposefully slow and atmospheric instrument parts fans of the style have come to expect. Regardless of speed, the raspy vocals are way back in the mix and are indistinguishable even when they can be heard. The slower parts manage to build some tension but the faster parts are a monotonous blur, rendering half of this band's self-titled demo little more than white noise. Add in the dull instrumentals and out of nearly 30 minutes of music only about 10 has any entertainment value. This is only a demo, so no one should be expecting a masterpiece, but at this point Ifrinn is essentially background music. |
