The young lads in this Finnish Thrash Metal band named Oppressive have been trying to make a name for themselves for five years by releasing two demos and now this 5-song EP, titled Seeds of Hate. These young thrashers undoubtedly would love to thrash all our guts out, and they do a pretty good job at that. Vicious, savage, nicely Slayer-esque sounding and riff-filled Thrash this certainly is, but but... Just to make it work even better, those barked vocals tend to be a slight turn-off. So, to better things in the future, the vocalist should seriously pay attention to the vocals and improve his vocal delivery quite a lot, or someone else should take over the vocal duties. I don't mean to sound rude or disrespectful or anything like that, but a harsh and cold fact is that vocalist Leevi Kämäräinen, simply said, just does not cut it. Other than that, I really did enjoy Oppressive's somewhat uncompromising determination to thrash the best they can. |
