Klotho is the second full-length from Australia's Alkira and like its predecessor is full of tight, vicious yet melodic Thrash Metal out of the later part of the Bay Area movement. The vocals are, for all intents and purposes, Death Metal with no clean singing to be found. To my ears, they are rather one-dimensional and that takes away from the songs. The playing remains solid and the riffs heavy and mean but Alkira still haven't come up with anything memorable so Klotho leaves me feeling like the band is treading water. Die-hard Thrash fans, especially Thrash with harsh vocals, will probably get a charge out of this but I was hoping for more progress in the songwriting. |
