Healed by Metal is the 17th full-length album from Germany's Grave Digger (if you don't count the Exhumation collection of re-recorded tracks or the aborted attempt at glam when they went by the name Digger and put out one record) and while this band has released some good stuff over the years, this one is a complete waste of your time. Sure, it's full of Grave Digger hallmarks like sing-along choruses and Boltendahl's gravelly vocals, but the songwriting is so "by the numbers" that the album sounds like a pastiche of past works. I'm not asking the band to reinvent themselves (did I mention Digger?) but there isn't one fresh idea to be had on Healed by Metal. Boltendahl and crew shuffle from one Power Metal cliché to the next and the album plods along in an indistinguishable blur. With so much quality Power Metal available an album should give you a reason to listen, be it something different or outstanding songwriting. Healed by Metal has neither.
