Finally a DVD out for these German Thrash legends, covering their 20-odd year career. The main attraction is the live stuff, 17 songs filmed live at a couple of locations during the Violent Revolution Tour. The "show" is not one entire live show filmed at the same place, and after every two songs they show some fan or behind the scenes footage from various areas of the world - not a bad thing per se, but it makes it a bit annoying to watch. Personally I prefer an uninterrupted live show, but your mileage may vary. A good selection of songs (see track listing at the end of the review) and some good live shots still make this enjoyable, although sometimes the special effects (grainy black and white image, for one) take away more than they bring to the whole experience. Also, the band<->audience interaction is almost non-existent, due to the format adopted. Bottom line, I've seen better live DVDs, but there's still some good stuff that make it worth the money.

The special features include a detailed band discography, a couple of extra live tracks (filmed at the Full Force Festival), but most importantly, a nearly one hour documentary-style video history of the band, where Mille and a few members talk about the band, with almost every period covered having a videoclip or two. The documentary covers Kreator from their days as "Tormentor" up to "Violent Revolution". There's a "Making of Live Kreation" that's quite short, all instrumental (no narration) which shows people setting up various equipment for filming the band and what have you.. Forgettable, I must say.

Kreator have probably packed as much as they could on a single DVD, so this is worth the purchase. Even though I'm not too fond of the presentation of the live concert, and believe the documentary could have included more narrated details, this is definitely a must-have for Kreator fans - and fans of metal in general, for that matter. A little piece of metal history. Note that there's a limited edition out there that includes the 2CD live album, "Live Kreation" - good value, look for it!
