Evil Reborn is the name of this 5-headed monster from Maturín, Monagas, Venezuela, formed in 2012. Death Metal, not so surprisingly, is the name of the game with them. Throne of Insanity is Evil Reborn's debut full-length outing, and man these Venezuelan dark-haired Death Metal heroes know how to play heavy, crushing and ear-slaughtering shit. They have an ear for some nice solo work, which is a definite plus. The core sound of Evil Reborn hits all the criteria in the basic syllabus of Death Metal; everything is in the right place. Their great and convincing vocalist Victor Chaparro manages to churn out some maggots and other mollusks from out of the back of his throat, though at times (not much, but still) he also tends to use these pig squeals and Metalcore-ish (i.e. Randy Blythe of Lamb of God) vocal styles that have always been more or less a definite turn-off for me, basically killing all that intensity they built up until they pop up annoyingly in a song. |
