Hellcraft isn't bad at delivering the goods in the Death Metal department. However, they don't offer any mind-shattering moments either. They simply manage to push their way along among the B-league of new Death Metal acts that are still sharpening their horns, whose motto is typically the more and longer you keep the pedal to the metal, the better. So yeah, they know how to play fast and how to sound ruthlessly brutal, but they also lack the final punch to their songs. Musically the band's Deicide-meets-Torture Killer-meets-Sinister type of Death Metal bombardment will surely appeal to many, but there are still some areas of their songwriting that demand improvements so that they can move on to the next. |
