There's really just two words you need to know to understand where this debut from Heresiarch is coming from, and those words are: Bolt Thrower. While this is admittedly not as cool as actual Bolt Thrower, the similarity in production and even riff style is unmistakable. Now, I am not calling this a bad thing, as since the actual Bolt Thrower can't apparently be arsed to be Bolt Thrower anymore, then I am fine with someone else doing it. This is heavy, crunchy, straightforward Death Metal with solid production, guttural vocals, and not much else going on. There's nothing genre-bending or unusual, nothing to really get excited about. It's not great, but it is really, solidly good. Slap it on for a pummeling, vicious ride. |
